Sony is reportedly contemplating delaying the release of the PlayStation 6 until 2028 or 2029, primarily due to a significant rise in RAM prices. This situation, dubbed RAMmageddon, is a consequence of increased demand from AI data centers, which has led to a severe memory supply shortage across the tech industry. As a result, both Sony and Nintendo are reevaluating their product strategies to adapt to these challenging market conditions.

In a recent Q&A session, SONY’s CFO Lin Tao revealed that the highly anticipated game Marathon is expected to launch by the end of March 2026. This announcement comes after the game’s official delay, which was attributed to the need for further refinement and testing. Tao emphasized that while the forecast includes this launch, it is not a firm commitment, indicating that the development team is actively working to resolve existing issues.
